It’s been pretty quiet around here

by Kim Lajoie on August 8, 2012

… but don’t worry, I’m still alive.

I’ve just been spending more time making music and less time writing (and reading) about it.

I’ve also been busy with some non-musical activities – some fun (like making music videos) and some a little less fun (like doing a *lot* of planning and preparation work).

What have you been working on lately?

I might have had other priorities over the last couple of months, but I’m still here. Ask me anything on Twitter, get me to help you with your music or just leave a comment here. I read and reply to everything.

well, I’ve been trying to resurrect an 80’s MXR distortion + that my brother dropped off..
Replaced all resistors, even the works now, but makes a horrible noise while on.
Also, Bought an FX-56 American Metal dist box on ebay to freshen up & probably resell.
Also, remixed/remastered tunes from my little project , now that I have the Pro version of S1.

Wow, that MXR project sounds like fun! Maybe you could sample the ‘horrible noise’ and use it as sound design fodder?

Hey man I just wanted to thank you for all of the post! Im a artist/producer and my world has been turned upside down after learning more about the mixing process. It really took me out of the creative zone for a minute because I got obsessed with trying to learn this process. Just when i came to terms with the fact that it was nothing that could be figured out over night I ran into your sight about a month ago and the articles blew me away and put me back on track creatively as well as technically! Sorry for the soapbox man but I appreciate you! keep helping us man!!! People like you and Dave Pensado really do a service to the new dudes!! I would also love to send you some of my stuff for your critique on my mixes if possible someday!
